Ruth Roman was born on June 22nd, 1939, in Lynn Massachusetts. The actress was the first child born to Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. When she was a young girl, Roman's carnival-barker father died in a tragic way, which made her mother Mary Pauline (Gold) to work as cleaner or waitress to help them survive. Ruth attended school, and was poor throughout Boston Massachusetts the tenement districts. After only two school years she left for the acting career. The route she took wasn't without its challenges. When she was in New York, her first task was to pose stills for crime magazines, the theatre work that she longed to do was abyssal. Following a short period as a hat-wearing club girl, she decided to return home and quit her position. It was the New England Repertory Company was the first job she had as a regular actor. Earned money performing during the daytime working as an Usherette. The study of drama helped her to receive a degree in the Bishop-Lee Theatre School.
